The Roots

in

Last thursday I got the (very last minute) chance to go and see probably my favouritest group in the whole world perform; The Roots. Although they've slid into more of a guitar vibe than I'm really down with, this was still probably the best concert I've ever been to; the rumors are true, The Roots absolutely pwn live!
Making it even more special was the fact that it was at Somerset House, a great 'vanity' house in central London, with a huge courtyard. As Tony noted, you might not expect hip-hop acts to play in a stately home, even such jazzy ones, but the venue was great, as was the weather, which was about the best thing this summer has done for me so far (even the surf appears to be crap).
It was also a welcome break from the stres of moving openDemocracy from it's Great Sutton st offices. A word of advice, readers: never ever take responsibility for an office move unless you are prepared for a week of back breaking lifting, driving vans, pissing off co-workers and generally draining your body of everything it has to give. Still, it's all done, and at least the party at the end of it was great!
